Welcome back to THE LAST DAY(!!!) of 31 Days to a Life of Purpose!
Whew! What a month! When I signed up for the Write 31 Days Challenge at the beginning of September, I thought I had plenty of time to prepare for the month. I could never really get going on it though. This worked out better for me, in the end, because I found I really had a lot to learn. So today, I want to share with you some of the things I learned this month while writing this series:
1. I can’t do it all!
If I want to live with purpose, I have to be willing to choose the best things for myself. This also means that I will have to say “No” to some good things in order to keep my sanity and not fall back into the busyness of before.
2. The best way to start my day is by reading my Bible.
As Christians, we are told this, but I have always struggled with making this a consistent practice. This month, I was able to really build this into my schedule as I removed things that weren’t beneficial to me and focused on making time for the things that are truly important to me. I have loved this time with God each day, and it has played an important role in my pursuit of purpose by keeping my mind on the things that matter.
3. Pursuing purpose is a struggle for all women.
As I watch what others are writing about, hear what they are talking about, and speak with other women myself, I realize that this isn’t just my issue. This is an issue that we are all trying to navigate as more and more activities vie for our attention. This common link allows us to learn from one another.
4. I have to stay focused on my goals.
No one else is going to keep track of my goals and assure I am making progress. It’s up to me. I have set my goals based on what is important to me, and, in order to accomplish these goals, I have to stay focused and be aware of my progress. I can gather others for support, but ultimately I have to do the work.
5. I must choose to Love my Life!
So much of living a life of purpose is about attitude. Attitude is a choice. A bad attitude can derail our plans and our purpose. We have to intentionally choose to love our life and to pursue the best things for our life. There will be hard days, but if we choose to respond positively and to remember the big picture even in the hard moments, we can be grateful for those times and what they teach us. A life that we love won’t be perfect or easy, but it will be worth our fighting for.
I hope you have enjoyed this month and have been encouraged or challenged to pursue a life of purpose. I would love to hear what you have learned this month!
