I know, I know, it’s only November. Next year still seems so far away. How could you have plans for it already? If you’re anything like me, new year’s resolutions are hastily made on New Year’s Eve or maybe even New Year’s Day and offer desirable yet unattainable goals that fizzle out because they lacked forethought. 2016 may not have crossed your mind yet, but let me tell you why it should.
Over the last couple of months, I’ve dedicated much of this blog to the topic of purpose. If there is anything I have learned, it is that purpose requires planning. If you want 2016 to be a year of success, then now is the time to start setting yourself up for that successful year.
Last week, I was able to attend the iBloom Virtual Retreat: Create Your 2016 Success Strategy that focused specifically on creating a plan for 2016. This two-day, in-depth planning retreat went far beyond just setting goals. During the retreat, iBloom founder Kelly Thorne Gore facilitated discussion on setting a theme for the year and defining priorities, goals and vision. She had attendees think through their definition of success and what it would take for us to look at a completed year and count it as a success. The retreat laid the foundation for many women to create the success strategy that would carry them through 2016. I love that I still have almost two months to think through my plans and tweak them in preparation for the new year.
Originally this retreat was only intended for those who had registered for the event and had purchased the 2016 iBloom Life and Business Planner. However, iBloom has graciously opened the recordings, handouts, and powerpoints up the public in hopes that more women will be inspired to pursue a life of purpose by creating plans for 2016. I would love for you to check out the iBloom Virtual Retreat: Create Your 2016 Success Strategy. I want to share with you that I am not an affiliate for iBloom. I’m not going to make anything if you purchase their products. I am sharing this with you because I believe their products are fantastic and because I don’t want to see women struggling with finding their purpose in the midst of overwhelming lives. I would much rather we use the resources and opportunities available to equip ourselves for the coming year so that we can live into our year with intention.
As of today, there are 51 days left to this year. While I am urging you to take time out and think about next year, I don’t want you to give up on this year. Don’t think of this year and next as individual events. They are connected and this year will greatly impact next year. How you finish out your year determines your starting point for next year. When you think about what you hope to accomplish for next year, reflect on where you are. Is this where you want to be when starting next year? How can you conclude this year with a strong finish? What changes can you make in the next 51 days to put yourself on the best path for 2016?
I hope you will set aside time to evaluate your year and will create plans for 2016 that make it a year of pursuing purpose!
