October 5 is the last day the forecast called for sunny weather. The clouds above are what it has looked like ever since. Sun isn’t in the forecast for four more days, and I’m about to go crazy. I can’t ever remember going this long without sunshine, nor feeling this desolate without it. As I was driving home today, all I could think was I just want to see the light of the sun.
Now, I know there are areas that are often like this. I couldn’t live there. I couldn’t help but think, as I was driving, that this is how life without God feels like. Things seem fine for awhile. Then the clouds come, and everything seems bleak. You want to see the light again, but it remains hidden.
David declares in Psalm 27, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” He knew that the darkness of the world and its problems could not remain in the light of God’s presence. I hope today that even if things seem bleak, you are able to cling to the light of Jesus.
