Welcome back to Day 25 of 31 Days to a Life of Purpose!
In pursue a life of purpose, you must guard what you allow into your mind and heart. The Bible tells us in Luke 6:45, “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” We are influenced by the things around us and especially by what we allow into our minds. We must be diligent in guarding what influences us by avoiding what we know will not be beneficial to us.
We are each different and the temptations that will cause us to stumble will look different for each of us as well. Here is where we must decide what is right for ourselves, even when it means that we can’t join in something others are doing. Your words will reflect what you have allowed your mind to be influenced by. If our desire is to live purposefully for God, we must be selective in how we choose to nurture our minds so that we speak out of the abundance of His goodness, and not our sinfulness. This will be essential in how we interact as a wife, a mother, a co-worker.
