I’ve recently started reading Women Living Well by Courtney Joseph. She starts by talking about living well in our walk with God. One of the most intriguing ideas for me was that of prayer journaling. This is not something I have done before. I decided to give this a try, and I am amazed at the difference I can already see. I believe that prayer journaling helps to focus my thoughts. Lately, I have really struggled with frustration over the kids misbehaving, but I found I was able to better deal with it after writing out lengthy prayers asking for God’s help and to grant me patience and wisdom in dealing with them. Writing it down really allowed me to keep those thoughts and requests on the forefront of my mind as I went throughout the day.
Prayer journaling is bringing a focus to my prayer life that has been truly lacking. I get so easily distracted when I set down to pray at length, but through journaling, my mind stays actively involved. This is something I wish I would have discovered much earlier in life.
I would love to hear any tips you may have regarding prayer journaling and how you do it.
