When I was young, I loved to read. This is why I became an English major in college. After college I went on to seminary for my Master’s. At some point, I lost my love of reading, and it became a chore. I had so much required reading that I could barely get it all done. Sadly, I have read very little since graduating in December 2010. I value reading and believe in the importance of continuing to learn, but after several years of forced reading, I have been in information overload. I have continued to collect books that I would like to read and have recently rediscovered my joy of reading and am ready to start tackling the stack (or stacks, I should probably say).
I have seen many bloggers share what they plan to read each month, and would like to start doing the same. I am excited about digging into the books I have stowed away on shelves with good intentions but no execution. I have seen some bloggers take on 10-15 books a month. I don’t think I am ready for that. I want a more manageable list that I can realistically get through in a month.
So here’s my list:
- Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen (my favorite fictional book that I’ve read many times, but am looking forward to reading again in preparation for another book I plan to read in later this year)
- Billy Graham in Quotes – edited by Franklin Graham with Donna Lee Toney
- 7: an Experimental Mutiny Against Excess – Jen Hatmaker
- Balancing It All – Candace Cameron Bure
- Praying in Color – Sybil MacBeth
- Good Poems – edited by Garrison Keiillor
- Made to Crave Devotional – Lysa TerKeurst – this is a 60 day devotional so I will be reading it for two months
As previously announced, I am also joining Courtney at Women Living Well to blog through the Bible, and I hope you will joing me in digging deeper in the Word.
What are you reading this month? I would love for you to share, and maybe I’ll find some new options for next month!
